Thanks for your reply.

In my case, the value created by the combination of 3 fields needs to be mapped to a value in one destination lookup field ( eg 1;a;x mapped to A, 1;a;y to B, 1;a;z to C,etc ).So if I split, wont be able to get the desired distinct combinations.KIndly suggest.
